Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (APC, Ondo South), on Tuesday, said that the primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress, among gubernatorial aspirants in Ondo State on Saturday, 20th April, 2024, was a mega fraud.

Senator Ibrahim who was announced to have  come fourth in the election, stated this in Abuja while briefing journalists on the outcome of the polls.

According to him, the Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege manipulated primary election, was the biggest electoral fraud in Nigeria that must not be allowed to stand in the interest of internal party democracy.

He noted that the electoral frauds were well captured ward by ward and local government by local government in the reports obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which clearly shows that election did not hold in 159 out of 203 wards and 15 out of 18 local government councils in the State.

The aggrieved lawmaker said that the fraud was so appalling that even as one of the contestants in the election, he was unable to vote, which made him to call the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahii Umar Ganduje, who according to him, sent some electoral officers to his house for him to cast his vote.

“However, since my house is not a designated polling unit or centre for the election , I turned down the offer of the electoral officers “, he said.

According to him, he has litigated against the primary election by the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC as carried out by Governor Usman Ododo and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

The litigation, he explained, was initiated within the time frame prescribed by relevant provisions of the 2022 electoral act, and would be sustained up to the Supreme Court.

“Two clear prayers are being sought for , in the court as far as mega fraud called Ondo APC Gubernatorial Primary Election is concerned.

“The two prayers are (i), that the sham carried out on Saturday, April 20th 2024 , should be cancelled for fresh one to be conducted and (ii), for delisting of APC from Ballot in the November 2024 Gubernatorial Election in Ondo State,” he said.
