He submitted his membership resignation letter on Wednesday to PDP Ward Chairman in Idanre local government, Isalu Jigbokin.

Adeleye, who aspired to represent Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in 2023 general elections, declared his support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

His resignation letter reads in parts: “In exercise of my constitutional right to belong to a political party of my choice and guided by law, I, Dr. Adeleye Olusayero Jasper humbly notify the general public, party members and my loyal followers of my wish to resign as a member of the People’s Democratic Party. This was concluded due to personal reasons

“I want to use this medium to appreciate the party and party leaders for giving me the opportunity to serve and contest in various capacities including contesting for the House of Representatives for Idanre/Ifedore Primary Election, which I do not take for granted. I appreciate all the members for their support. May the lord continue to be with us all.”

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, the Idanre-born politician disclosed that he defected to APC to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa administrations.

Declaring his support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, Adeleye said the governor is the right man for the job.

He noted that Aiyedatiwa has displayed character, capacity and capability in handling the state affairs just within six months.

He said: “Aiyedatiwa does not believe in use and dump strategy. We will mobilize support for him to win the election.”

Adeleye contested against PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Festus Akingbaso, popularly known as Fessy West, in the party’s primary election in May 2022.
