Flood Control Project: ACReSAL engages stakeholders in Bauchi

Bauchi State project management unit of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) on Friday, engaged stakeholders of theKirfi local government area to discuss issues of flooding affecting their communities.

The engagement was in its efforts to ensure smooth implementation of the project in the state especially now that the new round of rainy season is setting in.

The State Project Coordinator, Dr Ibrahim Kabir said that the forum became necessary for the stakeholders and ACReSAL to find lasting solutions to the negative effects of flooding bedeviling the communities in the area.

He expressed optimism that the step taken will go a long way in adopting the right measures to mitigate the menace.

The meeting was centred towards ensuring the commitment and support of the people for the successful implementation of the ACReSAL project in the local government.

Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Abdulkadir Umar Dewu and the District Head of Kirfi, who is also Wamban Bauchi, expressed happiness for being part of the ACReSAL project’s beneficiaries.

Speaking separately, they said that the intervention would go a long way in bringing an end to their decades of suffering from water flooding that destroyed their houses and farmland.

They promised to give their maximum support for the overall benefit of the area.

The stakeholders also commended the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed for finding Kirfi worthy of ACReSAL intervention, which will bring lasting solutions to their plights.

They applauded the SPMU for their untiring commitment towards delivering the project in the state.

In his remarks, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed on ACReSAL, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Barde applauded the foresight of the Council’s stakeholders for their unwavering commitments and support to the SPMU.

He added that this will ensure the successful implementation of the project not only in Kirfi but in the state as a whole.

The stakeholders forum included the Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, the District Head, who is also the Wamban Bauchi, two former Chairmen of the council, Hon Muhammad Tukur Adamu and Hon Garba Musa as well as the village heads of Cheledi and Kirfin Kasa, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Kirfi and Alhaji Muhammad Bello respectively aa contained in a statement by the Communications Unit, Bauchi ACReSAL.
