WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump doubled down on his dehumanizing rhetoric against immigrants who come to the US illegally, suggesting a "migrant league of fighters" for such people.

Speaking at the Road to Majority conference, a gathering of Christian conservatives on Saturday, June 22, in Washington DC, Trump disclosed that he floated the idea to UFC President Dana White, according to CNN. The 45th president, who wanted to be a "dictator for a day" if elected to deport illegal migrants, is a vocal critic of President Joe Biden's immigration and border policy.

Trump says 'migrant league of fighters' is not a 'worst idea'

"I said, 'Dana, I have an idea: Why don't you set up a migrant league of fighters and have your regular league of fighters. And then you have the champion of your league — these are the greatest fighters in the world — fight the champion of the migrants. I think the migrants’ guy might win, that’s how tough they are," the real estate mogul said to the conservative Christian crowd.

Trump added that it was not the "worst idea" he ever had, though he did not like it too much.

The Republican presumptive nominee reiterated these remarks while addressing his supporters at a campaign rally in Philadelphia later that day.

President Biden's campaign wasted no time in rebuking Trump's anti-immigrant comments.

“Fitting that convicted felon Donald Trump spent his time at a religious conference threatening to round up Latinos, bragging about ripping away Americans’ freedoms, and promising to be even more extreme if he regains power,” said the Democrat's campaign spokesperson Sarafina Chitika.

“Trump’s incoherent, unhinged tirade showed voters in his own words that he is a threat to our freedoms and is too dangerous to be let anywhere near the White House again.”

Border crisis being one of the focal points of the Biden-Trump rematch in November, the former president had repeated his opposition to undocumented migrants entering the country through the southern border.

For instance, in March, at an Ohio campaign rally, he said that some illegal immigrants were “not people." Similarly, last year, he echoed Adolf Hitler claiming that illegal immigrants were "poisoning the blood of our country."

During his time in the White House, Trump took measures to restrain legal as well as illegal migration, including the building of a wall on the US-Mexico border. However, in the latest podcast interview, he floated the idea of granting green cards to foreign students after graduating from US colleges to retain talents from returning to their home countries.

Internet rebukes Trump for using dehumanizing remarks about illegal migrants

Netizens blasted the ex-president for suggesting a "migrant league of fighters," indicating his disparaging nature toward illegal migrants.

"This is grotesque. There is no bottom for him," a user wrote. Another remarked, "He’s absolutely unhinged. The old rich white man wants the brown people to fight each other and entertain him."

A third user added, "Is this real? If it is ,then how can any person of conscience accept this bizarre ,hateful ,racism? He may just be the antichrist."

A fourth response read, "How much money is he planning on making from that? it is all about making money off others with that family."

"Trump keeps calling for violence, when it happens, he will through them under the bus, back the bus and roll over them again, because he is too cowardly," another user said.

Someone else claimed, "This man is both profoundly unwell and profoundly stupid."

An individual wrote, "Trump has the mind of a spoiled child. Shallow, zero self-awareness, selfish."

"Donald Trump is a, 'CINO' Christian, In, Name, Only. Donald Trumps number one policy is Donald, it always was, and always will be, Trump First, America Last. TRUMP FIRST, AMERICA LAST...," another user added.
