3-way truck crash injures 3, halts traffic for 2 hours on Bangaba

A crash involving three trucks has injured three people and brought traffic to a standstill for two hours on the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway.

The incident took place near Shibchar Upazila’s Panchar area around 8am on Thursday.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Shibchar Highway Police Station Mizanur Rahman told bdnews24.com: “In the morning, a Bhanga-bound truck broke down in the middle of the road and was parked on the highway. Later, a moving truck collided with the rear end of the parked vehicle.”

According to ASI Mizanur, the collision was followed by another crash as a third truck hit the two vehicles from the back.

Three people, including two drivers and an assistant , were injured in the accident.

The traffic on the road leading to Faridpur’s Bhanga was halted for two hours following the collision.

“Traffic returned to normal around 10am, after the trucks involved in the accident were removed from the highway,” ASI Mizanur said.

According to Md Shakil Ahmed, the officer-in-charge of Shibchar Highway Police Station, the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
