Manchester City will be going in search of a sixth successive Premier League win when they welcome Wolves to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday teatime.

City will be the second of the three title contenders to play this weekend, with Arsenal going first against Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime. Should the Gunners scoop all three points, the onus will be on Pep Guardiola's side to reduce the gap back to one a little later in the day.

Domestically, City have been almost faultless since the March international break, only failing to win once. With a game in hand on Arsenal, they remain the favourites to scoop a fourth successive Premier League crown.

But as is so often the case at this point in the season, nothing can be taken for granted, meaning Guardiola will not approach the clash with Wolves lightly. With that in mind, MEN Sport has had a close look at what could forge a perfect weekend for City this week.

Start the final month of the season with a bang

Last Sunday's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest brought an end to City's run of scoring four-plus goals in four consecutive Premier League matches. Prior to the trip to the Midlands, City had brushed Aston Villa (4-1), Crystal Palace (4-2) Luton Town (5-1) and Brighton & Hove Albion (4-0) aside, putting each of them to the sword.

City will be keen to get back among the goals this weekend, particularly at home, and maintain their quest to strengthen their goal difference. They are currently seven short of Arsenal's tally of plus 57, meaning they will want to try and bridge the gap amid the possibility of that statistic deciding the title race.

Furthermore, they will be keen to continue building confidence and another glut of goals will likely do just that. The Blues have scored four goals or more on seven occasions in the Premier League so far this term.

Phil Foden returns

The faces of Arsenal supporters must have lit up when they saw Phil Foden's name was missing from the teamsheet at the City Ground last weekend. The England ace, who has plundered 24 goals in all competitions, missed out through illness, meaning he was denied the opportunity to build on his brace three days earlier against Brighton.

Despite getting the job done in his absence, City will be hoping he can return this weekend. After City's players were granted two days off at the start of the week, he trained on Wednesday, boosting his chances of being involved against Wolves.

If he does indeed return, he will hoping to make his mark and get back among the goals as quickly as possible. Having him back will be a welcome boost ahead of a defining run of games.

Keep another clean sheet

Whereas scoring goals has not been a problem City of late, keeping clean sheets has, certainly at home. The Blues have not managed to shut out the opposition at the Etihad in any of their last three games in all competitions, last keeping a clean sheet on their own patch on March 31.

Away from home, however, City have been able to tighten up, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three games, keeping Chelsea at bay in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley before closing the door on both Brighton and Forest.

Should Wolves fail to breach City's backline this weekend, it will mark a third successive shut out in the league for Guardiola's men, which is something they have not achieved this season.

Receive a couple of favours

Until the mathematics may say otherwise, City will not discount Liverpool as a title challenger, meaning they will be hoping for a favour from Tottenham Hotspur when they visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Liverpool head into this weekend four points behind City, meaning they could be hot on their heels by the end of it if things do not go City's way.

But before City hope for a favour at Anfield, they will be hoping for one on Saturday lunchtime when Bournemouth travel to Arsenal. The Gunners are currently one point better off than City and have won each of their last three games in the league, scoring 10 goals in the process.

They will be strong favourites to beat the Cherries, but nothing can be guaranteed at this point in the campaign. Andoni Iraola has got his side competing really well and they are on course for their best-ever finish. They ran City close back in February, should have beaten Manchester United last month - having defeated them at Old Trafford already - and last time out, they thumped Brighton 3-0.

Iraola and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta grew up playing football together. Born less than three months and six miles apart, they were in the same junior side and played together for Spain U21s before their careers took them in different paths.

Thirty years later, they are back together as rivals in the Premier League. It may be friends reunited, but Iraola would love to get one over on his old pal. The greatest Spanish coach, Guardiola, will be watching with interest.
