The police Crack Squad in Lagos State, led by CSP Adams Uba, has busted a syndicate of car snatchers and arrested two persons.

One of the suspects, ThankGod Keshi David, a mechanical engineering graduate from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, said to be the kingpin, was arrested in Lagos while trying to sell a snatched Toyota Highlander to an alleged criminal receiver, Samuel Durojaiye.

Durojaiye, a Yagba East, Kogi-born computer graduate from Kogi Polytechnic, was tracked and arrested in his house in Kogi State.

Five posh cars, including a Toyota Venza, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla and Highlander were recovered from them.

The suspects confessed to the crime but pleaded for mercy.

ThankGod David told The Guardian that he does not snatch cars at gunpoint, instead, as a mechanical engineer, he repairs, pretends to test drive, and disappears with a vehicle.

Durojaiye confessed that he had, so far, received five cars from ThankGod, adding that those he received from other members of the syndicate had yet to be recovered.

At press time, spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, was yet to respond to the issue.

But a police source close to his office said the suspects would soon be charged to court at the end of investigations.

The source added that the recovered vehicles were being kept at the Gbagada office of the squad.
