The Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce), CSP Akerele Adetayo, on Thursday, 4 July, 2024, extended the operations to enforce and ensure statewide compliance with the Lagos State Traffic Law to Lagos Island via Adeniji Adele.

The Task Force Chairman personally led officers and men of the agency to purge and free up the popular Adeniji Adele bridge and its adjoining routes of traffic violations caused by unlawful and indiscriminate parking of vehicles by private and commercial motorists.

According to Akerele, the operation was part of a broader plan to abate and ultimately rid Lagos roads of artificial gridlock mostly caused by the activities of selfish commercial drivers.

At the end of the exercise, two suspects were arrested and 42 vehicles were impounded.

Recall that less than 24 hours after taking over at the Taskforce, CSP Akerele, carried out Lagos State Traffic Law Compliance Operation at the famous Oshodi axis of the Agege-Motor road, on Saturday, 29 June, 2024, during which 93 vehicles were impounded for various traffic offences.

The Taskforce Chairman had warned after the Saturday operation that the agency will sustain and replicate the exercise across the state, with the sole aim to make Lagos environment saner, safer and friendlier for the generality of Lagosians.

“We shall be fully decisive on our journey to enforce the laws and protect Lagos environment from unlawful activities, however, stakeholders and relevant bodies will be properly collaborated with in the resolve to actualize our core mandate,” CSP Akerele had said.
