A new reality TV show is coming to our screens, similar to Big brother, but a bit different, as it will be about couples. Comedian Ayo Makun, known as AY, hosted the show on Saturday.

“Next Naija couple” is initiated by business man, Obi Cubana, and the quadrangle media, which he owns. The show aims to celebrate African marriages by fostering genuine connections.

The event took place at Ebony life palace, it also had the presence of industry leaders and media professionals. AY’s charismatic presence set the tone for an engaging evening, while Denrele Edun managed the red carpet activities.

Ikechukwu Obi, CEO of Quadrangle Media Limited, highlighted the show’s vision. He emphasised that “Next Naija Couple” aims to groom potential couples within African values, promising an immersive experience for the participants. Business mogul Obi Cubana also stressed the show’s mission to help contestants find true love, hoping to inspire viewers to value committed relationships.

Starting on October 6, the show will feature 24 participants—12 men and 12 women—living together in a luxurious villa for eight weeks. The grand prize for the winning couple is a substantial N100 million. The show will be streamed 24/7, with daily highlights broadcast on Pop Central TV, AIT, and a dedicated mobile app developed in partnership with Deep Technologies.

One of the show’s standout features is its interactive format. The audience will play a crucial role in determining the course of the show through voting, ensuring that the viewers’ preferences are reflected in the outcomes.

Quadrangle Media’s CEO, Ikechukwu Obi, emphasised the show’s commitment to promoting African culture and values. He expressed his hopes that “Next Naija Couple” will change perceptions about relationships and marriages in Africa, celebrating the core values that define true African unions.

Obi Cubana also highlighted the show’s sustainability and long-term vision, revealing plans to expand the concept across Africa through Afrikonet in the next five years. He hopes the show will counteract the negative influence of social media on relationships by showcasing the importance of love, hard work, and faith in marriage.

The unveiling event also featured a performance by Progress, the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7, adding to the excitement surrounding the show’s launch.
