Vanessa Feltz fumed as she slammed Joe Biden’s latest debate with Donald Trump.

The journalist, 62, was back on the set of This Morning, this Friday, June 28, 2024, as she discussed the political event with Alison Hammond and co-host Dermot O’Leary, who has recently bagged a new TV role.

American president Joe Biden faced Donald Trump this Thursday in the first debate in the 2024 presidential campaign.

Despite measures being taken to prevent a shouting match, with the format of the debate allowing each men to speak while their opponent’s microphone is muted, the debate sparked an outrage as Joe Biden was heard stumbling on his words on multiple occasions.

The president’s struggle highlighted concerns for his physical health and cognitive sharpness with Democrats urging him to step aside. But during her chat with Alison and Dermot, Vanessa held nothing back as she weighed in on a “putrid”, “pathetic” and “agonising” debate.

“This is a contest to become leader of the free world” the most responsible job on the whole planet”, she pointed out. “The idea that those two specimens are the only two who are fit and should in the running for that type of unbelievably important august office is absolutely extraordinary.”

In another breath, Vanessa called out: “the level of debate was putrid”, before expressing further frustrations: “they ended up trading infant insults as if they were the lower fourth at school. It was absolutely pathetic but also heart-breaking and I’m very sorry for Joe Biden not appearing in peak debating form.”

She then concluded: “What a shame! Blimey, it was just agonising.” Several minutes later, Vanessa and Nick Ferrari then shared that Michelle Obama could be the perfect candidate for the Democratic party, a more popular political figure than American Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Several moments of the presidential debate, aired on CNN across the Atlantic, have caught the attention of viewers this Thursday. Joe Biden notably experienced a “bad, bad moment” when he appeared to be losing his train of thought mid-sentence.

The bizarre debate also led Donald Trump and Joe Biden to argue over golf swings as the US president mocked his opponent: “This guy’s three years younger and a lot less competent.”

And when Donald Trump boasted about his own cognitive health, Joe Biden provocatively retorted: “You can see he is six foot five and only 225 pounds. I’m happy to play golf with you if you carry your own bag. Think you can do it?”
