Brazen fugitive nicknamed 'The Cat' spotted partying at a Copa America match
A fugitive wanted for dealing in weapons and nicknamed 'The Cat' has been spotted partying wildly at a Copa America football match.
Jesús David Saumeth Montes is known as 'El Gato' which translates as ‘The Cat’ - and in his native Colombia he is wanted for alleged arms trafficking and homicide.
Saumeth is suspected to be the founder of the criminal organisation Los Colinas based in his home city of Santa Marta on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
The Colombian authorities have released multiple ‘wanted’ alerts about Saumeth since he went on the run earlier this year.
He apparently showed up in the US during a Copa America game and is said to have attended the tie between Colombia and Brazil at Levi's Stadium, in Santa Clara, near San Jose, California, US.
The match on Wednesday (July 3) ended in a 1-1 draw.
But Saumeth was in a jubilant mood as he was snapped posing with the influencers Karol Alcendra and Emiro Navarro who have since denied knowing who he is or anything about his alleged criminal activities.
Saumeth’s presence in the US has reportedly concerned the Colombian authorities.
Security agents are said to be redoubling their efforts to capture him.
He is accused of manufacturing and trafficking weapons in Santa Marta, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Saumeth is also linked to a series of homicides in the city between December 2020 and March this year.
