Did Marvel put limits on Deadpool and Wolverine? Director Shawn Levy speaks on the lines he couldn’t cross when making the highly anticipated film.

Deadpool and Wolverine seems to be the first project in a long time to really push the envelope when it comes to what’s expected for a Marvel film. However, that doesn’t mean the film was totally free from the studio. When asked about any limits put onto the movie by Marvel, director Shawn Levy admitted that only thing he could say was active drug use.

“I’m so wary of what I can say, but certainly there were early conversations about overt drug use,” Levy explained to Total Film. “And we thought that was an interesting conversation. Let’s actually write a dialogue scene about having had it.”

The scene Shawn Levy is referring to comes from the first Deadpool and Wolverine trailer where Wade Wilson points out that cocaine is off limits to Blind Al in multiple funny ways. Though if this is the limit to how much Marvel stopped the director from doing, it seems the lack of nose candy was a worthy trade-off!

Deadpool And Wolverine Get Wild

While Shawn Levy couldn’t include a speedball special in Deadpool and Wolverine, Marvel did let the director have full acess to their toybox. Just the trailers alone show cameos from X-Men characters and Loki villains, along with some sneaky references to projects like Spider-Man.

That’s only the confirmed cameos! Rumors suggest that Shawn Levy will be bringing back Channing Tatum’s Gambit from the brink of becoming complete lost media, having him join up with Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Dafne Keen’s X-23 to form a whole new team in Deadpool and Wolverine. The film truly seems to be pushing all of Marvel’s limits!
