Fear Grips Oil And Gas Dealers As NSCDC, LPGAR-NUPENG Partner To Fight Illegal Practices In Anambra

Oil And Gas dealers in Anambra, especially Nnewi, Nnobi and Ekwulobia are now said to be allegedly shivering wiith fear as The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has ndicated intention to partner with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association (LPGAR-NUPENG ) to curb illegal practices in the storage, sales and distribution of petroleum products in Anambra.

The paramilitary organization gave the indication at its state headquarters in Awka, yesterday.

Anambra State Commandant of the NSCDC, Maku Olatunde who stated this while playing host to LPGAR commended the association for the visit, stating that effective collaboration between the Corps and LPGAR would enhance the safety of Anambra Citizens.

He assured LPGAR ,abranch of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) of the Command’s collaboration and partnership for improved safety in their operations.

Maku called the attention of LPGAR to the importance of taking safety precautions to eliminate practices that pose grave dangers to lives and property, saying the role of regulatory agencies in oil and gas sector are not only statutory but indispensable.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Chairman Anambra State Chapter of LPGAR, Comrade Nwabueze Ihere said that the visit was to familiarize and establish collaboration with the NSCDC to rid the state of unethical practices in the distribution of petroleum products among included , petrol, gas and kerosene.

Comrade Nwabueze raised the alarm over the influx of substandard cylinders and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG), popularly called cooking gas with high propane content in circulation and expressed the union’s readiness to collaborate with the NSCDC to ensure sanity in the state.

The move according to him to improve safety and security in the oil and gas sector, combat illegal activities, and ensure compliance with international best practices.
