City of The Dalles Seeks Community Input on Tourism Vision and Transient Room Tax Use
The city of The Dalles in Oregon is currently seeking input from the community regarding tourism and the allocation of Transient Room Tax (TRT) revenues. Residents can participate in a survey made available on the city's official website and Facebook page, with responses being accepted until July 15th at 5:00 PM. Staff members are proposing a review of the city's ordinance governing the use of TRT funds and are embarking on a three-part discussion series with the City Council, focusing on the following key areas:

Soliciting Vision and Guidance: The city aims to gather insights and direction on the future of tourism within the community.

Reviewing TRT Regulations: There will be a thorough examination and potential update of the ordinance related to the collection and utilization of TRT.

Establishing Procurement Goals: The establishment of objectives and performance metrics for a procurement process geared towards tourism services, specifically in the realms of tourism advertising, promotion, and infrastructure.

Transient Room Tax, commonly known as TRT, is an additional fee applied to the rental charges of accommodations such as hotels, motels, RV parks, and short-term rentals for stays lasting less than 30 days. Guests or renters are responsible for paying this fee, which is then collected by the accommodation provider and subsequently remitted to the city authority. Your valuable feedback and input are vital in shaping the future landscape of tourism in our community and will greatly benefit the City Council in their decision-making processes.
