FBR told on Thursday that it had blocked 210, 000 sims of individuals who hadn’t filed tax returns, in order to broaden the tax base.

Restored sims amount to 62,000. “We have unblocked the SIMs of those who have paid their taxes,” FBR officials stated. Furthermore FBR officials stated  “Nobody voluntarily comes up and pays taxes. We have to make ways for the people to pay their taxes,”.

Pakistan has 192 million cellphone users and four telecommunication companies. “Access to telecom services is a basic human right and essential for many other fundamental services, including access to information, education, and emergency services,”. Official from one of the four telecommunication companies told.
