Unilorin Most Subscribed Institution By UTME Candidates In 2023-JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday published its ranking for tertiary institutions in Nigeria in the 2022/2023 academic sessions.

Contained in its Weekly Bulletin, the Board in the ranking tagged ‘JAMB Institutional Ranking’ disclosed that the schools were ranked according to five distinct areas.

The distinct areas include Most Subscribed Institutions by candidates, Most National in terms of Admission, Most Improved in Gender Balance, Most International students; Admission of Foreign (non-Nigerian) students and Most Compliant to Admission Guidelines.

In the most subscribed institutions by candidates category, University of Ilorin, Ilorin Kwara State ranked first with 97,351 candidates, University of Lagos, Lagos State followed with 75,967 candidates, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra State ranked third with 58,956 candidates, Bayero University, Kano State, fourth with 57,150 candidates while University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State ranked fifth with 55,455 candidates.

Savanna Institute of Tech, Abakiliki (Affiliated) to Federal University, Wukari and Marist Polytechnic , Umuchigbo-De Nike Emene Enugu, Enugu State, were the least institutions subscribed by candidates with one candidate each.

For the Most National in terms of admission spread in 2022/2023, Air Force Institutions of Technology (Degree), Kaduna ranked first, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State second, Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna , Kaduna State ranked third, Bingham University, Karu Nasarawa State fourth and University of Abuja, FCT ranked fifth.

The least in this category was Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Katsina State, followed by Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State.

For the most improved in Gender Balance, Borno State University, Maiduguri Borno State ranked first, Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, Borno State ranked second, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State ranked third, Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe State ranked fourth while Yobe State University, Damaturu, Yobe State ranked fifth.

In this category, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Katsina State ranked the least followed by Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Delta State.

In terms of admission of International Students in 2022/2023, University of Ilorin, Kwara State ranked first with 70 students, followed by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State with 18 students, University of Maiduguri, Borno State with 12, Nile University, Abuja, FCT with five and Ebonyi State University, Abakiliki, Ebonyi State with three students.

For the most compliant to admission guidelines, eight institutions got the highest point of 90 percent.

The institutions include Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Air force Institute of Technology, Kaduna State, Dominican University, Ibadan, Oyo State and Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe State.

Others include Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, First Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigerian Navy School of Health Science, Offa, Kwara State and Thoma Adewumi University, Oko-Irese, Kwara State.
