Hunger dey! – Hanks Anuku chants during solo protest in Abuja (Video)

Seasoned Nigerian actor, Hanks Anuku on Monday, July 8 embarked on a peaceful solo demonstration in the Federal Capital Territory.

The thespian visited the popular Banex area of Wuse II to protest over hunger and hardship in the country and this attracted a small crowd.

In a video making the rounds on social media, Anuku could be seen holding a flag with the inscription ‘Hunger dey ooo’ (meaning ‘hunger is real’ in Nigerian pidgin English).

The movie star repeatedly shouted “hunger dey” while waving the flag in the middle of the road and some passersby joined him in repeating the phrase.

Former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani earlier warned Senate President, Godswill Akpabio not to pass a route in Abuja over protesting Nigerians.

Sani, in a post via Twitter on Monday, said he recently encountered protesters in Wuse 2, carrying placards against ‘hunger in the land’.

According to the former Kaduna Central lawmaker, some of the protesters among them recognized him and allowed him to pass.

However, Sani suggested in the post that Akpabio might not be given a free pass by the protesters. He, therefore, advised the Senate President not to go through Wuse 2.
