Micah Richards reveals the key factor preventing England from matching Spain at Euro 2024

The round of 16 at the 2024 European Championships is nearing its end, with the final matches kicking off on Tuesday night.

England overcame an early scare from Slovakia in their first knockout clash, winning 2-1. Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham scored an injury-time equalizer, sending the match into extra time, where Harry Kane netted the winner.

Spain also had to make a comeback after an 18th-minute goal from Georgia. However, it wasn't a problem at all for Spain as they scored four goals before the final whistle, securing a quarter-final clash with hosts Germany.

Former England player Micah Richards shared his thoughts on what is holding England back from performances like Spain's.

On the Stick to Football podcast, Richards said: "Get an attacking manager, simple as that really. It is as simple as that, if you get an attacking manager, it changes everything."

"And that’s no disrespect to the previous England managers, you’ve got to play on the front foot, you’ve got to believe that you can win games that way, the modern football way."

Co-hosts Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer agreed with Richards, noting that with talents like Phil Foden, Harry Kane, and Jude Bellingham, England has the potential to play at this level.
