First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday unveiled her vegetable garden at the State House Residence, after which urged women to take the lead in the food security campaign.

“Earlier today, I was at my garden to tend to it and water my plants myself. I have planted seven different vegetables,” Mrs Tinubu tweeted, posting a photo of herself in the garden on Saturday.

Mrs. Tinubu, who emphasized the importance of individual contributions to addressing food insufficiency, planted over seven vegetables, including spinach, water leaf, bitter leaf, ewedu, lemon grass, scent leaf and okro.

She said a little effort on the part of every individual would go a long way in ameliorating food insufficiency.

She added, “I would like to encourage all Nigerian women to join the #EveryHomeAGarden competition and get involved in farming and food production.”

She also call for women’s involvement in farming to boost production in the country comes amid economic hardship that has seen food prices rise astronomically by over 100 per cent since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.
