The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has warned fake news peddlers to desist from spreading lies about his origin.

He made the remarks during his 54th birthday celebration held in Lagos, describing it as a moment of thankfulness.

While celebrating this year, he recalled how his birthday celebration was marked during his detention in prison for 14 months under the former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

He announced the disbursement of 200,000 each as scholarship to the four best students studying Yoruba Language in any university in Nigeria.

And the beneficiaries were: Omosanya Adefolaranmi (Ekiti State University), Fatiu Oladosu (Kwara State University), Adelowo Oyindamola (University of Ibadan) and Popoola Oluwatimileyin (University of Lagos).

In his remarks, Kofi Kartey (The Abolujiyan of Warri Kingdom) who represented the Warri monarch, His Majesty, Ogiame, Atuwatse lll, described the celebrant as an advocate and defender of human rights.

He lauded the scholarship initiative instituted as part of his birthday celebration, affirming that such a move would encourage the less-privileged to be interested in education.

One of the beneficiaries, Oyindamola, congratulated the monarch and appreciated his kind gesture for rewarding the best-performing students studying Yoruba Language.
