Back in 2013, the NFL had a huge scandal on their hands with second-year second-round pick Jonathan Martin claiming he was being bullied by teammates and coaches. The event became known as “Bullygate,” leading to an eight-game suspension of Pro Bowl offensive lineman Richie Incognito.

Dolphins offensive line coach Jim Turner was even fired for his apparent role in the fiasco, while Martin eventually decided to sit out for the rest of the 2013 season.

Now, over a decade after the incidents occurred, Martin is painting an entirely different picture of what really happened.

Bullygate happened in 2013, but Jonathan Martin, now 35, recently sat down for a long-form interview with ESPN’s Anthony Olivieri where he came clean about what really led to his NFL demise.

Martin hasn’t played an NFL snap since December 28, 2014. Today, the Stanford grad has a master’s degree in real estate in finance from Georgetown, with a “passion for Bitcoin.”

Yet, to NFL fans, he’ll always be remembered as the young offensive tackle who sparked a scandal in Miami.

To that, Martin says, “It’s my greatest regret of my life to this day is participating in that clown show,” referring to the Ted Wells report that detailed specific occurrences inside the Dolphins’ locker room.
