Transport for New South Wales is warning motorists about a suite of looming changes to major motorways across Sydney over the coming days due to maintenance works.

The state government issued a statement on Friday to advise motorists about the changed traffic conditions, which will come into effect from Friday night.

Upgrade works on the Warringah Freeway will see one northbound lane of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel shut from 11.30pm on Friday to 6am the following morning.

The same lane will also be closed on Monday, July 8, from 11pm to 6am on Tuesday.

Motorists can expect changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway due to night works from Friday at 10pm to 6am on Saturday, and between 8pm on Saturday to 8am on Sunday.

Traffic conditions will also change from 8pm on Sunday to 4.30am the next morning.

Key closures include the Miller Street southbound on ramp, with alternative access via Ernest Street to be available during the temporary closure period.

The Alfred Street North southbound off ramp to North Sydney and Kirribilli will also be temporarily shut, with motorists advised to use Pacific Highway or the Military Road off ramp to avoid travelling over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Another closure includes Warringah Freeway southbound access to the Cahill Expressway, although entry to the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Sydney Harbour Bridge will be maintained.

Transport NSW said the Western Distributor will be blocked off in both directions from Sydney Harbour Bridge to Bathurst Street on Sunday and Monday from 9pm to 5am.

Motorists travelling northbound from Anzac Bridge to the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be detoured via King Street and Clarence Street.

Meanwhile, those travelling northbound from City South to the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be told to detour via Day Street, Bathurst Street and Kent Street.

Motorists heading from the Sydney Harbour Bridge towards Anzac Bridge will be asked to travel via York Street and Market Street instead.

On Tuesday from 9pm to 5am, both on ramps for Pyrmont Bridge Road and Bank Street, westbound towards the Anzac Bridge, will be closed.

Sydneysiders can expect to take an alternate route via Bridge Road, Ross Street, Minogue Crescent and The Crescent.

Transport for NSW is urging motorists to "plan ahead" this weekend if hoping to use the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line, with buses to replace trains due to trackwork.

"Buses will also replace trains due to planned trackwork on intercity services on the South Coast Line," Transport for NSW added.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services will not run on Saturday and Sunday due to maintenance, but will resume between Convention and Dulwich Hill from Monday to Saturday, July 13.

Buses will replace light rail services between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill.
