EFCC Denies Alleged Release of List Implicating Ex-Governors in Corruption Scandal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has vehemently refuted claims circulating in the media regarding the purported release of a list implicating 58 former governors in corruption cases amounting to N2.18 trillion.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, clarified that the commission has neither disclosed nor discussed any such list with the media.

The statement dismissed the report as “false and mischievous,” labeling it a “phantom report.”

According to Oyewale, the report titled ‘EFCC Releases Full List of 58 Ex-Governors that Embezzled N2.187 Trillion’ lacks authenticity and is likely a product of fabricated information with undisclosed motives.

As reported the commission urged the public to disregard the report and cautioned the media against disseminating unverified information. Oyewale stressed the importance of verifying information directly with the EFCC to prevent the spread of false narratives.
