Police confirm arrest of prankster Zfancy after viral ritualist prank
  • The Nigerian police, in the latest update online, have confirmed the arrest of prankster Zfancy.
  • Zfancy had caused panic on social media a few days ago after pulling a fake ritualist prank in public.
  • The prankster’s arrest has stirred mixed reactions as several Nigerians applauded the police for taking action.

Popular prankster and influencer Zfancy, whose real name is Ubani Zion, has been arrested by the Nigerian police.

Zfancy was reportedly arrested around 11am on Wednesday, July 3, at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja.

The police confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the prankster had been arrested in connection with one of his pranks.

Zfancy had been accused of being involved in rituals on social media following a fake ritualist prank he pulled.

The police berated security threatening pranks via a statement on their official Instagram account.

The post reads in part:

“The Nigeria Police Force, through the NPF National Cybercrime Centre, has arrested a Nigerian ‘prankster’, one Mr. Ubani Zion Chibuike (AKA Fancy), at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja.

This arrest follows the circulation of accusatory videos on social media, in which Fancy was alleged to have committed heinous crimes, including rape. These videos caused significant apprehension among social media users.

Furthermore, Fancy came out and claimed the videos were scripted and part of his attempt to regain the spotlight after a break. Regardless, such actions have serious implications and can not be taken lightly.”

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who released the statement also issued stern warning to other prankster and content creators against going overboard with their contents and pranks. He added:

“The Police therefore warns pranksters and content creators to be law-abiding and be conscious of pranks and contents that could pose threats to the public and jeopardise the general security of our country.”
