Fermin Lopez of FC Barcelona celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on April 21, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

It’s hard to imagine now, but Fermín López almost did not have his breakthrough season this year with FC Barcelona.

Polish team Raków Częstochowa and the Catalan giants had come to terms over a proposed transfer of the midfielder, according to reports.

The fee was going to be around 600,000 euro, but the deal eventually fell through as changes went through the Polish team.

At the time, Fermín had yet to debut with Barcelona and was plying his trade with Linares Deportivo in the lower divisions of Spanish football.
