Live: Cheltenham shopping centre evacuated after fire breaks out
Black smoke was seen billowing across Cheltenham, with Regent Arcade confirming it had begun its "evacuation procedure"
A Cheltenham shopping centre has been evacuated after a vehicle fire sent plumes of black smoke billowing out from the attached multi-storey car park.
Emergency services are responding to the incident at Regent Arcade shopping centre, which was reported at around 14.45 this afternoon.
Two fire engines rushed to the scene, while a spokesperson for the shopping mall confirmed that the building's "evacuation procedure" had been implemented.
A Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 2:45pm to a fire in the car park of the Regent Arcade in Cheltenham. Four fire engines, three from Cheltenham and one from Gloucester, are currently at the scene."

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that four fire engines are currently attending to the car fire in the Regent Arcade multi-storey car park in Cheltenham.
The spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.45pm to a fire in the car park of the Regent Arcade in Cheltenham. Four fire engines, three from Cheltenham and one from Gloucester, are currently at the scene."
A spokesperson for the shopping centre confirmed its "evacuation procedure" had been rolled out, as plumes of black smoke can be seen across the city.
