56 Delegates Elects NUP Chairman In Kebbi

No fewer than, 56 delegates from the 21 local governments in Kebbi state, the Nigeria union of pensioners primary teachers section,on Saturday held elections into various contestable post of the union at their secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

The election which failed consensus requested by their top leadership produced one Abubakar Bello who polled 30 votes to defeat Bello mai Wurno who scored 24 votes to emerge winner and the new Chairman NUP primary teachers section of the union.

Except one post all other post were keenly contested and won by candidates who participated in the polls, though the elections were seen transparent but the defeated chairmanship candidate raised concerns over removal of some delegates from his camp.

Mai Wurno who lost the election had refused to sign the election results declared by the electoral committee, he refused to talk to the press after results declaration but was heard over the phone saying he will approach the court to seek redress to prove his allegations of irregularities in the concluded polls.

However, the polls was largely peaceful devoid of any rancour or acrimony, earlier, the two chairmanship candidates campaigned in the hall with pledges to reposition the union and improve the lots of primary teachers pensioners.
