Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it is set to enforce a ban on the illegal use of tinted glass, sirens, and covered number plates on vehicles.

The notice of planned clampdown as contained in a release signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, and made available to our correspondent in Uyo on Wednesday indicates that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara is concerned over the increasing prevalence of these unauthorized modifications.

The release emphasized that the use of tinted glass, sirens, and concealed number plates poses a significant threat to public safety and order within the state.

These modifications, according to the police make it challenging for law enforcement officers to identify vehicles involved in criminal activities, thereby obstructing efforts to maintain a secure environment for both residents and visitors in Akwa Ibom.

To ensure full compliance with state regulations, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has directed a comprehensive crackdown on violators. Motorists are strongly urged to desist from using illegal tinted glass, sirens, and concealed number plates, as these practices are now under strict scrutiny.

“We urge all motorists to adhere to these regulations and cooperate with law enforcement officials to help maintain safety and security in our state. Together, we can make Akwa Ibom State a better place for everyone.” The release stated

The police command’s commitment to enforcing these laws underscores their dedication to protecting the community and ensuring a safer environment for all. Residents are encouraged to report any violations and support the police in their ongoing efforts to uphold public safety.
