Delta Assembly leaders deliver on promise, begin promotion interviews

Acting Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Commission, Sunday Ebirere on Tuesday said forty-nine State Legislature staff members due for promotion to the next cadre in service have been invited for interviews.

Mr Ebireri, while flagging off the exercise at the Comtmission’s headquarters in Asaba, explained that stagnation in the Commission was over, as it is now key with the Realistic Reforms of the MORE agenda of the present administration, determining to clear the backlog of promotion arrears.

He disclosed that the ongoing promotion interview was the second set within a very short period and commended the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the reforms in the State Civil Service.

Mr Ebireri said amongst the forty-nine staff members for the promotion interview, seven are on level 16, aiming to be promoted to level 17, which is the peak of their career in service.

He disclosed that it was the first such a number to level 17, making the promotion exercise unique and essential to the Commission.

Besides promoting staff, which is one of the core mandates of the Commission, Mr Ebireri acknowledged the progress made in the recruitment, training and discipline of staff.

The Commission’s Chairman paid glowing tributes to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, for his massive support and approvals.

Ebireri said the Commission is determined to motivate staff to ensure that the Delta State House of Assembly is positioned to make people-oriented laws instrumental to good governance, development and growth in the state.

He encouraged all staff to be responsible, productive, and role models in society.

Some staff who spoke commended the State Governor and the Speaker for the prompt promotion exercise, describing it as a good development.

They also thanked the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr Sunday Ebirere and other board members for a smooth process and encouragement.

They said they are motivated to render quality service in the legislature.
