A Nigerian mobile policeman has poured out his aggravation concerning the poor working environment in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the policeman identified as Inspector Emmanuel complained bitterly about the bad state of where he and his colleagues were camped.

He said life has been so difficult since they embarked on the special assignment.

The officer further accused his commander of seizing their allowances each time they complain to him about the poor state of where they are camped.

“Where we are being posted, no good ventilation, no toilet, no good water, and where we’re living, since rain started, we have been mopping, anytime rain falls, we don’t have rest. We’ll mop until the rain stops. Even when the rain stops, we’ll still be mopping. Where to stay, we don’t have,” he said.

Pointing to the building, he added, “This is the abandoned building, no roof, and as soon as the rain is falling, water will be entering directly.

“Look at where we live, no water, see our room, since yesterday, we haven’t slept, nowhere to stay, we have been mopping.”

The government and police authorities have neglected the crucial issue of personnel welfare, and the dehumanising working conditions of officers, particularly those in the lower ranks, have remained a longstanding concern.
