Car crash in Far North Dallas kills 1 person, police say
One person died in a car crash early Monday morning in Far North Dallas, police say.
At about 2 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a major accident call in the 5900 block of Arapaho Road.
Daniel Castaneda, 24, was speeding down the road when he swerved into the center median and crashed into a light pole, police said. The passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Sanchez, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.
Police said Castaneda left the location of the crash, but he was later found by police.

Dallas County jail records show he was booked into jail at about 10:15 a.m. His bond has not yet been set, and online jail records do not show what Castaneda was charged with. However, police say he was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and collision involving death.
It is unclear if he has an attorney. The investigation is ongoing, police say.
