Wife of Detained Binance Executive Urges EFCC to Drop Charges

Yuki Gambaryan, wife of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained Binance executive in Nigeria, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop the charges against her husband.

In a statement on Tuesday, Yuki highlighted that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) had already dropped its tax charges against Tigran on June 14. Tigran Gambaryan, head of financial crime compliance at Binance, was arraigned alongside Binance Holdings Limited on money laundering charges in April.

The charges were brought before Judge Emeka Nwite at the federal high court in Abuja. Yuki urged the EFCC to follow FIRS’s example, stating that her husband’s continued detention is causing immense suffering for their family. She stressed that Tigran has never been a decision-maker at Binance and that there is no justification for his detention.

Yuki also revealed that Tigran’s health is deteriorating in detention, suffering from conditions like double pneumonia and malaria. The federal high court in Abuja has ordered Kuje correctional facility to release Tigran’s medical records to his lawyers. The trial has been adjourned to July 5.
