Fighters say Malema remains the party leader, while Shivambu will stay on as Chief Whip in Parliament

EFF statement on Committee deployments of Members of Parliament

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) parliamentary caucus held a caucus meeting on the 2nd of July 2024 and finalised parliamentary committee deployments.

The President and Commander in Chief, Julius Sello Malema, remains the Party Leader; and the Deputy President, Commissar Nyiko Floyd Shivambu, remains the Chief Whip of the EFF in Parliament.

The Whippery consists of the following:

1. National Chairperson, Commissar Veronica Mente-Nkuna, responsible for bills and the social cluster.

2. Treasurer-General, Commissar Omphile Maotwe, responsible for questions to the executives and the economics cluster.

3. Deputy Secretary-General, Commissar Poppy Mailola, responsible for provincial reports and petitions.

4. Commissar Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi, responsible for programming, motions, member statements, and the peace and security cluster.

5. Commissar Natasha Ntlangwini, responsible for attendance and the governance cluster; and

6. Commissar Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, responsible for media statements and the economics 2 cluster, who will serve as National Assembly Whips.

Furthermore, Commissar Mandisa Makhesini is appointed as the Whip in the National Council of Provinces, responsible for overall functions.

The caucus meeting further confirmed the deployment of all members to the following parliamentary committees:

1. President and Commander in Chief, Julius Sello Malema has been appointed as a main member in the Constitutional Review Committee and main member in the Joint Standing Committee on Ethics and Member's Interests.

2. Deputy President has been appointed as a main member in the Standing Committee on Finance, main member in the National Assembly Rules Committee, and an alternate member of the Joint Standing Committee on Ethics and Member's Interests.

3. Secretary General Commissar Marshall Dlamini has been appointed as a main member in the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence.

4. National Chairperson has been appointed as a main member in the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, main member in the Standing Committee on Auditor General, and an alternate member in the National Assembly Rules Committee.

5. Treasurer General has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Energy and Electricity, main member in the Joint Standing Committee on Financial Management of Parliament, and an alternate member in the Standing Committee on Finance.

6. Deputy Secretary General has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and an alternate member in the Standing Committee on Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament.

7. Commissar Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and an alternate member in the Joint Standing Committee on Financial Management of Parliament.

8. Commissar Leigh-Ann Mathys has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Telecommunication, and Postal Services.

9. Commissar Reneiloe Mashabela has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education.

10. Commissar Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry, an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Police, main member in the Sub-Rules Committee of the National Assembly Rules Committee, and an alternate member in the Powers and Privileges of Parliament Committee.

11. Commissar Natasha Ntlangwini has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Minerals, an alternate member in the Sub-Rules Committee of the National Assembly Rules Committee, and Powers and Privileges of Parliament Committee.

12. Commissar Paulnita Marais has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Social Development.

13. Commissar Vuyani Pambo has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Science and Technology and an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Telecommunication, and Postal Services.

14. Commissar Sam Matiase has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development.

15. Fighter Dr. Lillian Managa has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Environment, Fisheries and Forestry.

16. Commissar Mbali Dlamini has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements.

17. Fighter Betty Diale has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services.

18. Commissar Yoliswa Yako has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure.

19. Commissar Ntokozo Hlonyana has been appointed as a main member in the Standing Committee on Appropriations and an alternate member in the Standing Committee on Auditor General.

20. Commissar Dr. Suzan Thembekwayo has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Health.

21. Commissar Noluvuyo Tafeni has been appointed as an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Social Development.

22. Commissar Rebecca Mohlala has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation.

23. Commissar Sibongile Khawula has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and People with Disabilities.

24. Fighter Mzwanele Manyi has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Presidency Monitoring and Evaluation and an alternate member in the Standing Committee on Finance.

25. Commissar Mandla Shikwambana has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education.

26. Commissar Nontando Nolutshungu has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Transport.

27. Fighter Sixolise Gcilishe has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration.

28. Fighter Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Justice and an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Minerals.

29. Commissar Lehlohonolo Mokoena has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture and an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry.

30. Commissar Lorato Tito-Duba has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Tourism.

31. Commissar Sharon Letlape has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Police.

32. Commissar Thapelo Mogale has been appointed as an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs.

33. Commissar Mazwi Blose has been appointed as an alternate member in the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

34. Fighter Lencel Komane has been appointed as an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Energy and Electricity and an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education.

35. Commissar. Constance Mkhonto has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Labour.

36. Fighter. Carl Niehaus has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans.

37. Fighter Mothusi Montwedi has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and an alternate member in the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

38. Commissar Yazini Tetyana has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs.

39. Commissar Babalwa Mathulelwa has been appointed as a main member in the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development.

The Whippery will lead and guide the caucus to ensure maximum and effective participation in Parliament to hold the executive accountable, conduct oversight, and table legislation. The EFF has confidence in the individual and collective capacity of the commissars and fighters to add maximum value in holding the executive accountable, fighting for service delivery, and the transfer of wealth to the majority of the people who continue to suffer economic exclusion.
