Harald and Leif, down on their luck after a failed attempt to secure Yaroslav the Wise's (Marcin Dorocinski) assistance, find a lifeline when Lord Vitomir (Steven Brand) offers them a tempting proposition: a perilous journey to Constantinople with a mysterious cargo.

Harald, anxious to finance his military aspirations, regarded this expedition as an opportunity for atonement and power.

During the cruise, Leif was captivated by Mariam (Hayat Kamille), a bright and energetic lady returning to Constantinople.

Their bond strengthened, but tragedy struck when Mariam fell critically sick due to her illness.

Before her unexpected death, she entrusted Leif with the key to her house, a touching expression of confidence and respect.

Later, when they arrived at Constantinople, the Emperor (Nikolai Kinski) welcomed them.

It was then revealed that one of their passenger, Elena, was more than just a passenger as she was betrothed to the Emperor.

Harald, who had formed strong emotions for Elena, was crushed to learn that their love was now unattainable.

As the season ended, both Leif and Harald arrived in Constantinople, facing an uncertain future.

The season begins with Harald and Fydis living deep in the woods, with Olaf keeping an eye on them.

Due to their differing ambitions, the two split up and went their own ways, but there is a secret that Fydis kept from Harald about her pregnancy.

Lord Harekr (Bradley James) and Gudrid (Yngvild Støen Grotmol) honored Freydís with the title of high priestess upon her arrival at Jomsborg, with the purpose of founding a new Uppsala.

She discovers, however, that Jomsborg is far from the ideal location to live as her principles are contradicted by the treatment of some residents as second-class citizens and the forced labor of migrants.

After the birth of her son Harald, Freydís tries to flee Jomsborg with the assistance of Jorundr Torvilsson (Stanislav Callas), a friendly ally but leaves her son behind.

Later, Freydís returns and with the support of the townsfolk, defeats and kills Harekr marking a pivotal moment for Jomsborg.

However, problems continue to test Freydís determination, a new threat Jarl Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) emerges.

In a fierce battle, she demonstrates her unwavering commitment to protecting her people and her son, ultimately defeating Olaf.

As the season ends, Freydís travels to Kattegat and negotiates a critical peace pact with Queen Ælfgifu (Pollyanna McIntosh) of Norway.

In a heartfelt 'mother-to-mother' truce, Freydís and Ælfgifu resolve their disputes, leading to stability and collaboration between their realms.

After Kattegat was destroyed, King Sweyn Forkbeard (Søren Pilmark) assigned Olaf to protect his grandson, Svein (Charlie O'Connor), who became the new monarch of Norway.

Olaf still fixated, announced a large reward for capturing Freydís and Harald.

Olaf's obsession with finding Freydís led him to Jomsborg, where he underestimated the fortitude and cunning of the formidable high priestess.

With a well-thought-out plan, Freydís launched a devastating ambush, destroying Olaf's group and leaving him exposed.

The dramatic altercation was also witnessed by Svein, the young monarch who was under Olaf's protection.

In a struggle of wills and swords, Freydís proved her mettle, outwitting and killing Olaf in front of Svein.

After thwarting a plot to assassinate Queen Emma (Laura Berlin), Earl Godwin (David Oakes) learned that his fiancé Aelfwynn's (Maria Guiver) brother was the man behind the attack.

However, Aelfwynn claimed her ignorance of the assassination, but Emma persecuted her until she gave up information, which ultimately resulted in Aelfwynn's death.

Just before her demise, Aelfwynn disclosed Godwin's desire for his future son to rule as king.

Godwin cemented his position upon the return of King Canute's (Bradley Freegard) by marrying Canute's niece, Gytha (Henessi Schmidt), in a well-thought-out scheme to become a member of the royal family.

It came to light that Godwin had planned the assassination attempt because he knew Emma's revenge would eventually guarantee his royal marriage.

Godwin marries Gytha at the conclusion of the season, gaining him a place in the royal family.
