The fundamental issue of sensationalism in news reporting and its effects on national Security in the era of new media will be at the front burner at the fifth edition of the Timeline Awareness Initiative Lecture/Awards coming up on Wednesday 29 May in Lagos.

The annual event to be held at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja GRA, Lagos will have affable billionaire businessman and distinguished Senator, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu as Chairman. The former Abia State Governor and former Chief Whip of the Senate will be supported by Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora as Co-Chairman. Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Lagos Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa; Sen. Gbenga Daniel, and Corporate lawyer, Dr. Siju Iluyomade are Special Guests of the 2024 yearly event.

Veteran Journalist and President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga has been selected as the lead speaker.

The programme, which is being put together by Timeline Nigeria —an online news portal— is aimed at getting all and sundry acquainted with the socio-political happenings in the country and also honour distinguished Nigerians in politics and business sectors. The event promises to live up to its expected billing as some highly placed individuals have promised to grace the occasion even as some carefully selected Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour would be honoured.
