The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced strategic adjustments in military operations to safeguard farmers and ensure a productive rainy season across Nigeria. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this during a briefing in Abuja. He highlighted that these measures are aimed at addressing security challenges that have hindered farming activities, thereby contributing to high food prices.

In recent operations, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hybrid forces, reported significant successes in counter-terrorism efforts. They neutralized a total of 220 terrorists, apprehended 395 suspects, and rescued 202 kidnapped hostages over the past week. Additionally, a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered, including various rifles, grenades, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

General Buba emphasized the military’s commitment to intensifying intelligence gathering and targeting terrorists in their hideouts, aiming to dismantle their operational infrastructure nationwide. He underscored that decisive actions will continue to be taken to disrupt terrorist activities and ensure the safety of all citizens.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, commended the media for their support in disseminating information about military operations, stressing its crucial role in enhancing national security. He affirmed the Armed Forces’ unwavering determination to achieve sustainable peace and security across Nigeria.
