Hurley 2nds dominate with the ball and bat in victory over The Lee 2nds

Hurley 2nds chased down their target in just 13.3 overs to claim victory over The Lee 2nds on Saturday.

The Lee won the toss and elected to bat first in their home ground match but their visitors were dominant with both bat and ball.

Opening the batting for The Lee were Mike Harris and Daniel Boakes. The innings got off to a disastrous start as Boakes was caught behind by Akash Singh off the 3rd ball of the first over, bowled by Joban Singh, for a duck. Caia Stockdale, batting at number three, added 14 runs with 2 boundaries before being caught by Akash Singh off Kuljit Lally.

James Harris, who came in next, was dismissed lbw by Joban Singh for just 1 run. Mike Harris, the captain and wicketkeeper, tried to stabilize the innings but was dismissed for 7 runs, trapped lbw by Raman Singh, reducing the team further to 29/4.

The Lee found themselves in further trouble when Tor Stockdale, the top scorer for the team with a resilient 40 off 53 balls including 7 fours, was caught by Jasdeep Singh off an excellent slow delivery by Mandeep Singh, making the score 93/6. Ed Clifford provided a brief middle order resistance with 15 runs but fell lbw to Joban Singh.

Lower order contributions were minimal, with Tom Clifford bowled by Ravi Singh for 7, Andrew Knott bowled by Mandeep Singh for a duck, and Stephen Pain lbw to Raja Mahmood for 3. Freddie Hastings remained not out on 9 as the innings wrapped up at 109 all out in 27.4 overs.

Hurley began their chase of 110 with openers Mandeep Singh and Jasdeep Singh. The pair started steadily, rotating the strike and dispatching bad deliveries to the boundary.

Mandeep Singh played aggressively, scoring 47 runs off 35 balls, including 7 fours and a six, setting a strong foundation for the chase. Jasdeep Singh, providing solid support, contributed 30 runs off 44 balls with 3 fours and a six.

The opening partnership was broken at 93 runs when Mandeep Singh was bowled by Luke Dawes, bringing an end to a crucial innings. In a strategic move, youngster Diltaj Singh was promoted up the order to give him a run in as Hurley were nearly home with victory. However, his stay at the crease was short/lived as he was bowled by Dawes for a golden duck, reducing Hurley to 93/2.

Jasdeep Singh's wicket followed soon after, caught off the first delivery of the next over by Caia Stockdale, resulting in a dramatic collapse where Hurley lost 3 wickets in 3 deliveries to make it 93/3.

Despite these setbacks, Ravi Singh ensured there were no further alarms, scoring an unbeaten 10 runs off just 3 balls, including a four and a six. Akash Singh remained not out on 1 as Hurley 2s chased down the target with ease in 13.3 overs, finishing at 110/3.
