Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen Comparable to Gojo

newsfinale.com 2 days ago

Satoru Gojo is an immensely popular character from the acclaimed Jujutsu Kaisen. In fact, he is unquestionably the strongest sorcerer alive. Gojo’s innate technique, Infinity, allows him to manipulate the space between himself and everything else, making him impervious to physical attacks. Throw in his ridiculous Doman Expansion and the revered Six-Eyes that he possesses, and Gojo is practically unbeatable.

However, it wouldn’t be any fun if there weren’t any challengers to his throne. There are other sorcerers with the potential to surpass Satoru Gojo and others who fall just short of him. All things considered, none of them are capable of defeating the blue-eyed show-off in a serious match. However, many sorcerers are close to his level — much closer than Jujutsu Kaisen‘s weaker characters are.

Updated on July 2, 2024, by Ajay Aravind: Satoru Gojo’s arrogance might rub some people the wrong way, but there’s no doubt that he’s overwhelmingly powerful. There aren’t any sorcerers from the current era strong enough to take him down. In fact, even ancient villains like Kenjaku are afraid of facing him in battle. That said, even Gojo’s seemingly limitless power has limits. As such, we’ve updated this article with some more relevant information.

This article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

15 Kenjaku Is Easily One Of The Most Dangerous Villains In JJK

Every Grade In Jujutsu Kaisen Explained

The power scaling system in Jujutsu Kaisen ranks everything that falls under the bracket of jujutsu, with seven possible categories to fall into.

Kenjaku is easily one of the most dangerous villains in Jujutsu Kaisen, having been alive for at least a thousand years. Since immortality remains the territory of Master Tengen, it appears that no sorcerer is capable of living for centuries. However, Kenjaku’s unknown Innate Technique lets him transplant his brain into other bodies, effectively transforming into the dead person. He was most recently seen taking the form of Suguru Geto, although he has also inhabited Noritoshi Kamo in the past.

The main reason that Kenjaku jumps bodies is to stay alive, but he carefully chooses his targets in order to exploit their unique powers and abilities. He’s easily one of the strongest characters in the story, having defeated and consumed Mahito in the span of a second. Although Kenjaku would never be able to beat Gojo in a direct battle, he can certainly impede the world’s strongest sorcerer.

14 Yuki Tsukumo Is A Force Of Nature To Be Reckoned With

Cursed Techniques:

There are only four known Special Grade sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, and all of them are on this list. Although Yuki Tsukumo is yet to reveal her powers as of the Season 2 finale, manga fans already know just how devastatingly capable and experienced she is. Yuki doesn’t work under any Jujutsu administration; on the contrary, she seeks to fulfill the same goals by following her own personal philosophy.

Aoi Todo, an exceptionally formidable sorcerer and Yuji’s best friend, honed his skills under Yuki. In fact, he would never have reached Grade 1 without her mentorship. Her Innate Technique is known as Star Rage, which revolves around the physical concept of mass. Without mentioning too many spoilers, it’s safe to say that Yuki and her shikigami Garuda are truly forces to be reckoned with.

13 Hajime Kashimo Can Transform His Cursed Energy Into Electricity

Hajime Kashimo in front of Satoru Gojo and Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 21

Cursed Techniques:

  • Mythical Beast Amber
  • Hollow Wicker Basket

A character yet to be introduced in the anime, Hajime Kashimo is first introduced during the Culling Game arc. Also referred to as the God of Lightning, he originally existed four centuries ago. Kashimo was reincarnated into a new vessel by Kenjaku, and his main aim is to fight the King of Curses himself. This is not an empty boast, though, as Kashimo boasts some truly unique powers.

For instance, he effortlessly defeated Panda using a combination of his intelligence and electrified cursed energy. In fact, Kashimo is the only known individual capable of transforming his cursed energy into electricity, giving him both offense and defense simultaneously. He doesn’t even need to expand his domain in order to secure a successful strike against most opponents, although Kashimo’s Hollow Wicker Basket makes him even more dangerous. Gojo would be the first to recognize Kashimo’s potential.

12 Hiromi Higuruma Is Capable Of Defeating Most Characters

Jujutsu Kaisen's Judgeman Shikigami with Hiromi Higuruma

Cursed Techniques:

  • Judgeman
  • Deadly Sentencing

Another character who appears in the Culling Game arc, Hiromi Higuruma used to be a defense lawyer with a passion for true justice. As a result, his legal career revolved around saving those with wrongful accusations, at least until one of his cases ended in complete disaster. Given that he was already a genius, Hiromi picked up the nuances of Jujutsu immediately after getting access to cursed energy.

In his first battle with Yuji, he showed just how overpowered he was in combination with his shikigami Judgeman. Hiromi can spawn a court with Judgeman presiding and institute a trial for the opponent, who can then be insta-killed by Deadly Sentencing. Gojo could technically break out of Hiromi’s Domain Expansion, but it’s not going to be easy. That said, very few characters could hope to survive a fight with Hiromi.

11 Fumihiko Takaba Has The Potential To Destroy Satoru Gojo

Jujutsu Kaisen: 15 Ways Yuji Itadori Is Unlike Any Other Shonen Protagonist

One of the reasons why Jujutsu Kaisen became such a big hit was due to Yuji Itadori’s refreshing take on a shonen protagonist who’s unlike any other.

As a former comedian, Fumihiko Takaba appears to be a comic relief character. He’s remarkably clumsy and his sense of humor is non-existent, although he certainly considers himself to be funny. Takaba’s unique style of comedy seems to work in conjunction with his Innate Technique. At first glance, an ability named Comedian evokes a completely different vision than what it actually is.

To put it mildly, if Fumihiko Takaba truly learned how to master his Innate Technique, he could force even Satoru Gojo on the defense. Comedian is based entirely on his level of self-confidence. As long as Takaba believes that a specific concept can be funny, it can be transformed into reality. This is seen during his battle with Kenjaku, as the ancient villain gets more and more confused with each passing moment. That said, Takaba’s combat potential is quite low in terms of cursed energy output.

10 Yuji Itadori Has Yet To Reveal The Limits Of His Potential

Cursed Techniques:

  • Divergent Fist
  • Black Flash

Shōnen protagonist Yuji Itadori was already a physical prodigy long before consuming Sukuna’s finger. One of the first scenes in the anime involves Yuji casually setting a shot put world record while competing against his teacher. But after digesting part of the King of Curses, Yuji gains access to cursed energy and becomes a natural at controlling and harnessing his newfound ability.

Gojo is impressed with the protagonist’s ability to control the mutual relationship between his emotions and cursed energy, and further down the line, Yuji sets a new record for most uses of Black Flash in succession. His first fight against Sukuna in the manga may have ended on a sour note, but Yuji is not the kind of person who gives up when his friends are in danger. Although not at Gojo’s level yet, Yuji has demonstrated the bottomless potential he wields.

9 Kento Nanami’s Knowledge Of Cursed Energy Makes Him Formidable

Kento Nanami holds up a hand in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Cursed Techniques:

  • Ratio Technique
  • Collapse
  • Black Flash

Kento Nanami is perceived to be the ultimate Grade 1 sorcerer, capable of singlehandedly taking on Special Grade curses. His iconic battle with the Special Grade curse Mahito was a testament to his strength, as he managed to land several blows on the curse while surviving a direct blow to his own soul. A well-rounded sorcerer, Nanami’s skill is supplemented by a keen intellect and proficient understanding of cursed energy.

Nanami immediately deduced most of Mahito’s ability and is one of the few sorcerers to implement a binding vow. After seeing Nanami perform his Innate Technique in action, it’s easy to understand why Gojo harbors significant respect for him. Unfortunately, however, Nanami was ultimately defeated and killed by Mahito, leaving Yuji utterly distraught.

8 Megumi Fushiguro’s Potential Is Recognized By Both Gojo And Sukuna

Cursed Techniques:

  • Ten Shadows Technique
  • Chimera Shadow Garden

Jujutsu Kaisen: Does Yuji Itadori Have a Heavenly Restriction?

Itadori’s superhuman strength carried him through a major Jujutsu Kaisen plot twist. This raw power is reminiscent of Maki Zenin and Toji Fushiguro.

Megumi Fushiguro is a member of the established Zenin Clan and a character with limitless potential. The young sorcerer wields the Ten Shadows Technique, gifting him the ability to summon shikigami and utilize them in battle. Additionally, he possesses a robust intellect, outstanding physical attributes, and massive amounts of cursed energy — making him a formidable opponent for even Special Grade curses.

Perhaps the greatest confirmation of his latent power is the interest Sukuna has taken in him. Despite almost always portraying an indifferent nature to anything other than battle, Sukuna is interested in Megumi and has even refused to kill the boy — a shocking action for the otherwise ruthless King of Curses. Megumi isn’t at Gojo’s level yet, but he could theoretically surpass his mentor once he learns how to tame Mahoraga.

7 Aoi Todo Has Already Defeated A Special Grade Curse

Aoi Todo is surrounded by Black Flash energy in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Cursed Techniques:

  • Black Flash
  • Boogie Woogie

Aoi Todo is an eccentric Grade 1 sorcerer whose achievements far exceed his classmates. During Geto’s Night Line attack in Kyoto, Todo defeated five Grade 1 cursed spirits without even using his Innate Technique. In fact, he only needed to call upon his Boogie Woogie when attempting to exorcise Special Grade curses like Mahito and Hanami.

Aoi Todo possesses physical strength to rival Yuji’s; early in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, he displayed an intricate level of control over his cursed energy when fighting Hanami. His Boogie Woogie allows him to switch positions with anything possessing cursed energy by merely clapping his hands, creating a teleportation-like effect that can be remarkably useful in battle. As such, this makes him an unpredictable and difficult opponent. Still a student, Todo has yet to achieve his full potential.

6 Yuta Okkotsu’s Power Is Often Compared To Gojo’s

Cursed Techniques:

Yuta Okkotsu made his anime debut in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, where he absolutely proved his worth as a sorcerer protagonist. He is one of four Special Grade sorcerers recognized by Jujutsu High. Yuta’s initial power was derived from being haunted by the cursed spirit Rika, nicknamed the Queen of Curses. Even after losing Rika’s soul to the afterlife, however, Yuta maintains his absurd power level by maintaining a version of the Queen of Curses in his arsenal.

As a result, it’s not very surprising to hear Satoru Gojo openly admit that Yuta could one day surpass him. Yuta successfully defeated the rampaging Suguru Geto, another Special Grade sorcerer, and was trusted by the higher-ups to execute Yuji Itadori at the end of Season 2 as a shocking plot twist. Yuta is currently a terrifying force of nature, and yet it still feels like he has more to give.

5 Kinji Hakari Is A Special Grade Mystery With Unique Abilities

  • Private Pure Love Train
  • Idle Death Gamble

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Fastest Sorcerer’s and Cursed Spirits, Ranked

Jujutsu Kaisen’s fastest characters are often those who also have innate techniques or abilities focused on speed in particular.

Kinji Hakari is yet another character to feature in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga but not yet in the anime. Little is known of his background and abilities, but prior to his suspension at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Hakari was recognized as an extremely overpowered sorcerer. In fact, Gojo briefly mentioned him alongside Yuta and Yuji as sorcerers who could one day surpass him.

Hakari’s reputation alone is enough to place him on this list, and Yuta once commented that Kinji is formidable when in the right frame of mind. In the manga, the sorcerer gave Yuji a beating — demonstrating his proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. All things considered, however, Hakari’s Idle Death Gamble allows him to achieve a so-called Unkillable Mode that grants him infinite amounts of cursed energy. In this form, he’s essentially invincible.

4 Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Speech Is Formidable And Devastating

Toge Inumaki reveals his mouth mark in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Cursed Technique:

Although not one of the Big Three Sorcerer Families, the Inumaki Family and their Cursed Speech are well respected throughout the Jujutsu world. As an inheritor of the Cursed Speech ability, Toge Inumaki possesses the skill to wield it with proficiency. Using this Innate Technique, he can issue commands that cannot be disobeyed by the vast majority of his opponents.

As a second-year at Jujutsu High, Inumaki has featured heavily throughout the series and has already put in impressive performances against the likes of Todo and Hanami. Acknowledging the limitations of his technique, Toge has honed his athletic skills and is considered physically impressive, scaling just below freaks like Yuji and Todo. His skill is so impressive that Geto once singled him out as a sorcerer with vast potential.

3 Suguru Geto Was A Special Grade Sorcerer When He Died

Geto gets introduced as a Special Grade Shaman in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Cursed Techniques:

  • Cursed Spirit Manipulation
  • Maximum: Uzumaki
  • Curtain

Suguru Geto was a former Special Grade sorcerer who was both the best friend and rival of Satoru Gojo. As students, both Geto and Gojo were considered the strongest, with Gojo later surpassing Geto after awakening his true powers to overcome certain death. Geto’s Innate Technique is Cursed Spirit Manipulation, which allows him to control the cursed spirits he captures.

Throughout his life, Geto captured hundreds of curses that he could call upon at any time, vastly increasing his offense, defense, and range of motion. The unique nature and diverse application of his technique meant that some sorcerers considered him more of a threat than Gojo. After declaring war on Jujutsu High, Geto met his end at the hands of Gojo. However, his body was subsequently desecrated by Kenjaku, who has since taken on Geto’s appearance and powers.

2 Naobito Zenin Is The Second-Fastest Sorcerer In Jujutsu Kaisen

  • Falling Blossom Emotion

Jujutsu Kaisen Takes Gojo Satoru Back to His Childhood With New Bandai Release

Some of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most tragic characters get a childhood revival in Bandai’s newest collection of anime episode-specific merchandise.

Naobito Zenin was the head of the prestigious Zenin Family and a Special Grade 1 sorcerer. Despite appearing to be nothing more than an elderly drunk, Naobito is more than capable of overwhelming a Special Grade curse with his cursed energy and astounding physical attributes. He is known for his immense speed, which is second only to Gojo, and he supplements it with an immense intellect that allows him to remain one step ahead of his opponent.

Naobito vastly outperformed both Maki and Nanami during their battle with Special Grade curse Dagon, although Maki had yet to achieve her true power at that point. However, Naobito also couldn’t withstand a full-frontal attack from the flames of the Special Grade cursed spirit Jogo, someone who Gojo defeated without effort. And yet, there’s no doubt that Naobito and Gojo aren’t that far apart when it comes to combat experience.

1 Kokichi Muta/Mechamaru Came Close To Defeating Mahito

Cursed Techniques:

  • Puppet Manipulation
  • Ultimate Mechamaru

Kokichi Muta is a student at Kyoto Jujutsu High who uses Ultimate Mechamaru as his proxy when fighting and socializing. This is because Muta was born with a frail and sick body resulting from his Heavenly Restriction. That said, his mastery over his puppets, including Mechamaru, allowed him to reach the rank of Semi-Grade 1 Jujutsu sorcerer.

Kokichi Muta possesses a vast amount of cursed energy, enough to cover the nation of Japan, which allows him to wield his Puppet Manipulation technique across vast distances. In his battle with Mahito, Muta almost defeated the monstrous Special Grade curse by releasing all of his cursed energy at once. Unfortunately, he underestimated his opponent and lost his life at the hands of the villainous cursed spirit. And yet, Muta knew enough to create mini-Mechamarus to carry out his post-death will.
