Labour MP Stella Creasy issues urgent public appeal after man in 30s dies in Walthamstow knife attack

Labour’s Stella Creasy has issued an urgent public appeal after a young man was killed in an attack in her Walthamstow constituency in north-east London. 

The man, who is believed to be aged in his early 30s, died at the scene after being stabbed on Lea Bridge Road at around 3pm on Saturday. 

A crime scene is in place and a knife has been recovered from the location between Bakers Arms and Vicarage Road. 

Officers are in the process of notifying his next of kin and there have not yet been any arrests.

Ms Creasy tweeted: “[It has been] confirmed that sadly a young man has lost his life in an attack. 

“I urge everyone on this thread to refrain from speculating as a way of respecting his family who are deeply grieving their loss. 

“If you have any information on the reason for this heinous attack to come forward.” 

Ms Creasy was reelected in Walthamstow on Thursday’s election and has been MP there since 2010. 

In the lead up to the election her office was attacked by vandals

She added: “We can only stop the cycle of violence this represents together by standing against those who perpetuate it.”
