Cowboys' Jerry Jones Admits Jayden Daniels Makes Him 'Sick'

FRISCO - Jayden Daniels, the Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall pick in last year's NFL Draft, hit the ground running in his rookie season with the Washington Commanders and now at the end of the year he is collecting more honors.

And the whole thing makes Jerry Jones sick.

As a reward for his record-setting season that took the upstart Commanders all the way to the NFC Championship Game, Daniels on Thursday night won two major awards at the NFL Honors show at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

Daniels won both Offensive Rookie of the Year and NFL Moment of the Year for his scintillating Hail Mary touchdown to ex-Cowboys receiver Noah Brown that beat the Chicago Bears.

This was a landslide win for Daniels.

Daniels won 49 of the 50 votes for Offensive Rookie of the Year, with one going to Las Vegas Raiders' tight end Brock Bowers. They were followed by Denver Broncos' quarterback Bo Nix, Jacksonville Jaguars' receiver Brian Thomas and New York Giants' receiver Malik Nabers.

In what many analysts are calling the greatest rookie quarterback season in league history, Daniels - and coach Dan Quinn, a former Dallas top assistant, turned the Commanders around from 4-13 in 2023 to 12-5 in 2024.

Daniels completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns and only nine interceptions while also setting a rookie quarterback rushing record with 891 yards.

Daniels joined the Cowboys' Dak Prescott and Ben Roethlisberger as the only rookie quarterbacks to win 12 games, and became just the fifth rookie in NFL history to record 30-plus total touchdowns in his first season joining the likes of Justin Herbert, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson and fellow 2024 rookie Nix.

And what does Jerry think of it all?

"I'm going to get sick when I think the Cowboys have got to play him twice a year for the rest of his career," Jones said at the NFL Awards. "He's a great talent, unique, and I'm glad to have him in the National Football League."
