Engages Dangote Refinery

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has called on Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) to ensure effective distribution of petroleum products across the country.

This is just as the oil workers said that they have started talks with Dangote Refinery to ensure NUPENG is also part of the distributive process of petroleum products across the country.

National President of NUPENG, Williams Akporeha, said this during a special delegates’ conference of the PTD Branch of NUPENG, held in Lagos, where Augustine Egbon emerged as the National Chairman of PTD.

He said that notwithstanding that Dangote Refinery just started operations, NUPENG as a union has started discussions with the management, assuring that engagements are in top gear to ensure its members are part of the distributive process.

Akporeha urged the federal and state governments to make the nation’s roads motorable for tanker drivers carrying petroleum products for distribution across the country, especially as the rainy season gets to its peak.

As part of efforts to address the road challenges, the NUPENG chief urged the government to do palliative measures on the roads so that drivers can move freely.

According to him, without good roads, tanker drivers cannot move their products seamlessly across the country. Akporeha expressed optimism on the readiness of the Federal Government to get the Port Harcourt Refinery back to operation in July.
