When it comes to planning a vacation, many travellers prefer going to some of the most popular tourist destinations around the world such as New York, Rome or Barcelona.

Many adventurous travellers are trying to find the next bucket-list spot before it even starts trending. 

However, one travel expert, who has been in the industry for 20 years, has shared her insights for off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Mercedes Zach is a travel agent at ASAP Tickets and over the years, she has travelled all around the world.

She spoke exclusively to the Express about a destinations that she’d recommend visiting for 2025. 

The expert explained that her “hidden gem” location to visit is Destin, in Florida, the US.

If you are looking to enjoy a more luxurious travel experience for less and travel across the ocean, one of such US cities that could easily compare to Malibu or Miami while being a lot cheaper is Destin in northwest Florida, in the Panhandle area. 

It's known for its Emerald Coast beaches, many golf courses, the Destin Harbor Boardwalk and nice weather all year round. 

Destin also has a white sandy coastline with crystal clear waters that make it perfect for a beach getaway with breathtaking views and fewer tourist crowds. 

The pro said: “Many say that Destin gives out Caribbean vibes without having to take a flight to any of the exotic islands outside the US. Plus, there are plenty of exclusive beach rentals to choose from for as little as £80 per night.

“This city offers everything from golfing, rock climbing and ziplines to snorkelling and dolphin tours to world-class festivals, firework displays and other unique experiences that don’t have to cost a fortune. 

“If you have ever dreamt of a vacation on the American East Coast, I recommend Destin as a very spectacular yet affordable beachfront destination to add to your bucket list.”
