Chelsea’s latest teenage signing has opened up on his move to Stamford Bridge, with the winger set to join next summer.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have been busy in the summer transfer market with the additions of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo and Estevao Willian already completed.

The West London club had a disappointing campaign last season under Mauricio Pochettino and the Blues are hoping this campaign will be a season of progression under Maresca, who guided Leicester City to the Premier League last season.

One of these signings in Estevao, who has become the latest export from South American club Palmeiras and has joined Chelsea for a fee in the region of £50 million.

Estevao opens up on move to Chelsea

HITC confirmed that Chelsea had beaten off some of Europe’s top clubs to get a deal over the line for the teenager winger.

With Estevao being just 17 years of age, Estevao will not be able to complete his move to Stamford Bridge until next summer where he will be 18.

Speaking in an interview with Globo Esporte, the winger was asked about his future and the prospect of moving to Stamford Bridge.

“To tell you the truth, I got very happy inside,” he said. “I think it’s an achievement that everyone dreams of, to play in Europe, with the biggest teams in the world. Today my head is at Palmeiras. What I did at Palmeiras was important for them to sign me.

“I think that all the work that Palmeiras does in all youth levels, both at youth and professional level, is sensational for all of us kids, we’re very happy and the expectation is very good. But my head is focused on Palmeiras.”

Chelsea’s youth approach

It seems the Blues are experimenting with a younger approach to the transfer market this summer as they look for the best players across Europe and South America, in particular.

Another deal that is close to being completed is the signing of Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino for a fee understood to be around £13 million.

HITC has reported that the club are closing in on the agreement for the Argentine defender and look set to beat Manchester United to the signing of the 19-year-old.
