America’s Cutting Edge Boot Camp will be held July 8-12 and July 22-26 at the Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition Manufacturing Support Center in Marietta, where participants are introduced to the machining process.

Funded through the Department of Defense, training has no cost unless it is run as a private boot camp for an employer. Anyone interested in attending should register online at www.aomanufacturers.org/training.

The Department of Defense initiative promotes machine tool technology development and advancement.

Students are exposed to CNC machining processes including CAD, CAM and finished assembly. They program, machine and assemble their own Air Piston. One part of the assembly is modeled each day of the training and students take home their completed assembly at the end of the week.

The first half of the day is spent on the classroom portion of the training. Students follow instructions to prepare tool paths in Fusion 360 CAM software.

For the second half, students run parts on the three-axis CNC milling machine.

The Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition is a manufacturer-led coalition in collaboration with education, social services and community leaders focused on aligning the learning system with the needs of the manufacturing community to support economic growth and a high quality of life in the Southeast Ohio region. The organization is an Ohio Manufacturers’ Association Endorsed Sector Partner.
