CINCINNATI (WXIX) - An Avondale man is facing several charges after a woman was left with serious physical injuries.

According to a Hamilton County affidavit, Brooks Crockett, 24, faces one count each of strangulation, felonious assault and abduction.

Court documents say the 24-year-old was at the victim’s home when the assault occurred on June 17.

Crockett allegedly picked the victim up by her neck, dragged her “up a hill,” punched her in the face and head several times and kicked her in the back, a complaint says.

The victim was choked so hard that she lost consciousness, court documents explained.

On June 18, Crockett allegedly returned to the woman’s home and did not allow her to leave even when she tried to.

“Mr. Crockett shut the door and took her keys and told [the victim] ‘you are not going anywhere,’” the affidavit says.

It also says the suspect took her to a second location based on a Cincinnati police investigation and the victim’s statements.

Crockett appeared in Hamilton County Municipal Court Wednesday morning for his arraignment. A judge gave him a $125,000 bond.

The 24-year-old was previously indicted on one count of having weapons under disability after he was convicted on drug-related charges, jail records show.

His next court date for the firearm crime will be July 1. He will reappear in court on July 5 for his most recent charges.

Crockett is behind bars at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
