Why Olivia Cooke is the reason we’re watching S2 of ‘House of The Dragons’

russh.com 2 days ago

Alicent Hightower. Not everyone could portray the role with dutiful care and poise. Olivia Kate Cooke has delivered a performance so rousing that it belies her younger years. Quite literally too – at thirty, the actress is playing a grandmother to a dragon heir on House of the Dragons. As season 2 of the Game of Thrones prequel continues to ramp up, so has Cooke's innate style, whether off-record or on-camera. As an unofficial Loewe clotheshorse, the actress is always rotating between high glam sensibilities and a courtside, cozy aesthetic she replicates often. We're out for blood and keeping our eyes out for more.

In between episodes, we've pulled together some of Cooke's best performances out of character. Take a look below for everything we know about the actor, and for a look at her ever-evolving style that's as otherworldly as it is cool.

Olivia Cooke is thirty, flirty, and thriving...

An English native like co-star Emma D'arcy, Cooke has previously broken into the stratosphere with her starring role as Emma Decody in the A&E drama thriller series Bates Motel and as Becky Sharp in the period drama miniseries Vanity Fair

On House of the Dragon...

She plays the adult Alicent Hightower who who became the second wife to King Viserys I Targaryen. She was the daughter of Ser Otto Hightower, Hand of the King. She is precocious, clear-headed, and lovely in print and series adaptations, and steps into the role of Queen after the passing of Queen Eamma.

She's a fan of Loewe...

I mean, amongst us, who isn't? The actor has stepped out on multiple occasions in Loewe evening wear and casual attire. As Jonathan Anderson's unofficial muse, she's not shy to an oversized knit or a custom royal-blue gown engineered by the House. You pick your poison.
