In this era of energy transition, gas development will take centre stage as stakeholders gather for the 2024 Nigerian Oil and Gas Energy Week.

The event, themed ‘Showcasing Opportunities, Driving Investment and Meeting Energy Demand’, is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 4 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

In a statement, organisers of the NOG Energy Week noted that many African countries were harnessing gas and other cleaner and greener energies to drive their industrialisation journey.

The statement noted that the Minister of Energy for Ghana, Dr Matthew Prempeh, who will be at the NOG Energy Week, recently amplified the need for competitive financing to propel natural gas projects.

Nigeria, boasting gas reserves of over 200 trillion cubic feet, has announced plans to execute a gas strategy that will trigger the nation’s industrialisation and economic growth, having adopted gas as the country’s transition fuel.

To drive progress in Sub-Saharan Africa’s energy market, energy stakeholders, government officials, regulators, and key industry players would convene at the NOG Energy Week to deliberate on policies aimed at meeting West Africa’s energy demand with gas.

The Country Director, Nigeria & Portfolio Director – Africa for dmg events, Wemimo Oyelana, disclosed that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri; his gas counterpart, Ekperikpe Ekpo; the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe; the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, would lead discussions at the conference.
