West Ham United’s summer transfer window may well be thrown into disarray by Chelsea it seems.

Both West Ham and Chelsea need to strengthen their respective squads considerably in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are believed to be working around the clock to get at least six new signings over the line before the start of the new season.

The plan is to strengthen in every single position this summer. However, that may not be possible with Lopetegui’s budget thought to be around £90 million, excluding player sales.

So the Spaniard will have to prioritise which positions require the most urgent attention in the summer window.

One area where we are definitely short right now is the left wing department. West Ham don’t have a right-footed left winger, and that needs to change this summer.

However, we could face an impossible task with Chelsea zoning in on a key Lopetegui transfer target…

Chelsea cause West Ham a big summer transfer window problem

The Hammers may well face a really tough battle ahead this summer it seems.

That’s because new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is eyeing up a £51 million deal for a red-hot attacker.

According to a report from Calcio Mercato, Chelsea and Liverpool are prepared to make an offer close to £51 million for Ademola Lookman this summer.

That news is a hammer blow for West Ham, after it was claimed that Lopetgui wants to bring the 26-year-old Atalanta ace to the London Stadium.

The Hammers fans will remember him most for his failed ‘Panenka’ penalty against us at the London Stadium in 2020.

I would love Lookman at West Ham, he is a sensational talent. He proved his undeniable quality with a stunning hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen last month.

The right-footed left winger has enjoyed the best spell of his career with Atalanta, bagging 32 goals and 18 assists in 78 games (Transfermarkt).

Described as ‘unplayable’ by the Mirror, the forward has blistering pace and exceptional movement.

Ademola Lookman would complete West Ham’s attacking lineup, but it seems like Lopetegui now has no chance of signing him in the summer transfer window with Chelsea and Liverpool allegedly ready to pull the trigger on a deal for the former Charlton man.
