Patriotism, Panacea to Peaceful Co-Existence- GOC Tells Youths

Nigerian Army has called on youths to see patriotism as a panacea for peaceful coexistence in the Country.

 The General Officer Commanding, GOC, 2 division Nigerian Army Ibadan, Major General Obinna Onubogu made the call during a public enlightenment programme in Commemoration of this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration, NADCEL, held at the International School Ibadan, ISI. 

 The GOC who was represented by the Commandant, Command Day secondary school, Odogbo Barracks, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Abubakar said if everyone could have the spirit of patriotism, the war against insecurity would be significantly tackled.

 Major General Onubogu noted that as part of the event lined up for this year’s NADCEL celebration, the Chief of Army staff approved a public speaking engagement with Secondary schools across.

 He explained that NADCEL was an annual event which comes up every 6th of July in honour of members of the Nigerian Army for their roles in defending the Nation’s territorial integrity. 

 On his part, the principal, of International School Ibadan, Mr Yinka Akintunde appreciated the 2 divisions Nigerian Army for considering their school for the programme.

 Mr Akintunde said the programme would educate students on some ethical topics and guide them on a possible career path in the Nigerian Army. 

 One of the students, Enioluwanimi Folorunso said her plan for the future was to become a medical Doctor and join the Nigerian Navy, With the hope that the program would help her make informed decisions in life.

Another student, Daniel Olaniyan was optimistic that the lecture has assisted him to know the importance of the Military and their contributions towards National development as well as encouraging him to join the Army in the nearest future.
