Saliu Mustapha responsible for Kwara’s strategic positioning in the 10th NASS- Senate Leader

The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has commended Senator Saliu Mustapha for his role in emergence of 10th National Assembly leadership.

Senator Bamidele disclosed this on Monday while speaking at the 2024 Public Lecture on Constitutional Amendments and the Political Dynamics of State Policing in Nigeria.

This event was organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with the Institute for Legislative Studies at the University of Ilorin.

The Senate Leader explained that Saliu Mustapha led first term Senators to align with APC leadership preference for Godswill Akpabio and garner support for him on the day of inauguration.

According to him, Senator Saliu Mustapha insisted that new comers would play critical role in emergence of 10th Senate Leadership. We told him our rules does not support first termer to become Senate President but he insisted! We were force to negotiate with him. I respect him for also negotiating for best interest of the nation and other first term Senators

The Ekiti Central Senator added that Senator Saliu Mustapha was appointed Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture and ensure other Senators from Kwara got Chairmanship position.
